Hello Everyone and welcome to my Detox Blog! Sorry for the late start, we had some trouble getting the blog running but things are finally working so I should be updating at least every other day if not every day.

For those of you that don't know what I'm talking about... My name is Myriam (I am a server here at Cousin's) and I have just started the 28 day detox program that we offer here. Throughout my 28 days I will be sharing my whole experience on this blog in order to give people a better idea of what the program is like. So here it goes!

I want to start by giving a little background about myself. It should be understood that this detox is unique to each person that is doing it. It can have different effects depending on each individual's body, how seriously the program is taken, what someone's daily schedule is like, and what an individual's lifestyle was like before they started the program. So in order to promote understanding and lay it all out there I just want everyone to have an idea of my general lifestyle pre-detox so you might be able to understand my personal experience better. Not everyone is going to have the same experience as me and I hope to include stories from the other people doing this detox with me in order to show a range of different detox results. With that being said...

I've been a vegetarian for over 5 years now and I transitioned to vegan before I started working at Cousin's. My initial decision to go vegetarian as well as vegan had nothing to do with my own personal health, so the health benefits that I have discovered since the change have been a wonderful addiction to, and motivation for, my vegan lifestyle. Since starting at Cousin's a little over four months ago I have gone through a whole new transformation. I have discovered raw food and completely fallen in love. Over the last few months I have been eating about 70% raw and the difference that I have felt in my everyday wellbeing has been amazing. I have more energy, I'm no longer groggy when I wake up in the morning, I don't feel a need for caffeine anymore, I need less sleep, I've lost some body fat, my skin has improved and I find myself to be more happy on a more regular basis. I've also started riding my bike 15 to 30 miles a day which explains why I've lost body fat but not weight, all the bike riding has given me leg muscles I never even knew I had. Basically I feel better on a daily basis then I ever have before. And now I've decided to give out detox a try.

I decided to do the detox for a few reasons. First I want to see what everyone is talking about. I've had so many people tell me about the fantastic results they've had that I want to find them out for myself. Secondly, I want to be able to control the food cravings I have. I've always loved to eat, and I have a very hard time saying no to food even when I'm not hungry, so I'm hoping that this detox will give me the ability to know when I should be eating and when I should stop. And of course there is the general wish to cleanse my body. I'm not always the healthiest person and I really believe that the more natural things are the better. This detox will hopefully give my body time to get rid of all the processed junk that I ingest on a daily basis so that I can start fresh and really live as healthy as possible. And finally I want to prove to myself that I can make healthy decisions while those around me are not (or at least be conscious of, and responsible for, my unhealthy decisions).

So that is how I came to start this detox, now for some stats. My starting weight as of this past Sunday is 144lbs. I should say that loosing weight is not a specific goal of mine, but it wouldn't hurt, I'm really very curious to see how my body reacts, and I like numbers so I will be keeping track of my weight. As I said I earlier, I ride 15 to 30 miles a day and I want to try to keep that up. We'll see how my energy is as I start to cut out food. For those of you that don't know me I'm 24. I don't know if that makes a difference but I thought some people might be curious. On average I like 7 to 8 hours of sleep. I don't always get it but I feel best when I do.

I think that covers the introduction. I'll get into the nitty gritty of how the first week works tomorrow. For now I will say that I'm on day three and I feel great. I was afraid that the herbs would upset my stomach but they haven't at all and they're super easy to take. The breathing excersises that I do every morning are a wonderful way to start the day, and I feel like i have more energy then usual, although that might just be my excitement about the program (I'm a pretty energetic person already).

So check back often for updates and feel free to leave a comment with any questions/support/ramblings/poetry/rants/raves or whatever else you might feel like saying. I'll try to respond to any questions as quickly as possible.

Happy days

Myriam
